Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color (1960s) -Framed
Original production animation cel painting
Gouache on untrimmed animation cel sheet, image size: 5.25" x 3.5"

This full-figure hand-painted animation cel of José Carioca was created in the Disney ink-and-paint department and photographed during the making of an episode of the weekly television show Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color. It is likely from Carnival Time, the March 4, 1962 show in which Ludwig Von Drake explored the world's great carnivals, including that held in Rio de Janeiro hosted by José Carioca.

José, the Brazilian parrot, was introduced in the Aquarela do Brasil segment of Disney's South American picture Saludos Amigos (1943); he appeared in The Three Caballeros (1945), Melody Time (1948) and television shows of the 1950s and 1960s.

Studio designation "11" is written in black ink at lower right to indicate this cel's place in the scene.
