The Nifty Nineties Animation Drawing of Mickey and Minnie Mouse 1941 Framed
The Nifty Nineties (1941)
Original production animation drawing
red, green and black pencil on untrimmed animation sheet, image size: 3" x 2.75"
This original final animation drawing of Mickey Mouse and Minnie was created by a Walt Disney Studios animator in production of the cartoon directed by Riley Thompson, and a cel painting was made directly from it. Mickey meets Minnie "while strolling in the park one day" and they take in a vaudeville show before motoring about the countryside in Mickey's horseless carriage. They pass Goofy, Donald Duck, Daisy, and Huey, Dewey, and Louie; in this scene they crest a hill before speeding up on the downslope for a humorous encounter with a cow.
Claude Smith supervised the animation of the driving scenes from the couple's emergence from a covered bridge to the end of the picture. The animator wrote the studio designation “37” at lower right to indicate this original's place in the scene. Our certificate of authenticity is included.
